Foreclosure Rates & Home Sales

4/27/2011- The Census Bureau reported an annual sales rate of 300,000 new homes in March. 
That was an 11% increase from February's all-time low of 270,000, but new home sales 
remained near the lowest levels recorded since the government started tracking the data in 1963.




2010- Foreclosure filings—defined as a default notice, auction sale notice or bank repossessions—were up 4 percent in July from the previous month but down almost 10 percent from the year before, according to RealtyTrac 's U.S. Foreclosure Market Report.

In July, one in every 397 households in the country had received a foreclosure filing. It was the 17th consecutive month that foreclosure activity exceeded 300,000, Some 97,123 U.S. properties received default notices during that period. Two states—California and Florida—accounted for 37% of the nation's total foreclosures.
